Thick Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookie

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, use a mixer to cream the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt together until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually incorporate the flour mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using. The dough should be thick and sticky.
  7. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop large balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough space between each cookie for spreading.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers might look underbaked, but they will continue cooking as they cool.
  9. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on it for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Enjoy your thick gooey chocolate chip cookies warm from the oven, or store them in an airtight container for later! Happy baking!
